As a Co-founder and Director of Hazardous Materials of Evergreen Hazmat Solutions, Darren brings 15 years of experience in the safe removal and management Hazardous Materials in all sectors and roles in the industry. Darren got his start as a laborer in 2011 and very quickly progressed his career into a supervisor position and then into Project Management, followed by Operations Management. Darren expanded his knowledge and expertise further by working as a consultant for Hazardous Materials and holds a Level S Asbestos certification. His time as a consultant included the analysis and development of hazardous material building assessments, oversight and air monitoring of abatement projects, providing training to workers for the WorkSafeBC Certified Worker regulations implemented in January of 2024, and much more. When he isn’t on site coaching and mentoring staff, or in the office preparing documents and proposals, you can find him passionately baking a variety of sourdough products, spending time with his daughters, or painstakingly watching his favorite sports teams continue to disappoint its fanbases.
Tom has a multifaceted background in construction and attended college in Ontario for blasting and demolition techniques back in 2010. Since then, he has pursued a couple of different trades in his pursuit of construction knowledge, as well as ran his own operation in Calgary. Since 2019 He has actively used his combined knowledge to become a force to be reckoned with in the Demolition and Abatement world. With over 150 buildings demolished in BC alone he is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to bring cost effective and safe Demolition and Abatement solutions to Evergreen’s clients. One of Tom’s favorite quotes that he actively lives and works by is “Give me a few hours to plan something, I’m good. Give me a week to plan, and I’m great, but give me a month to plan and I promise I will be unbeatable”. When he’s not going over plans or projects for work, he can be found working on a farming project on his property or blacksmithing in his shop or smoking something on his home built meat smoker.
